Qutub News
Qutub News was designed for the needs of local news papers in India, the type design balances functionality and tradition. It encompasses the three main styles for setting news in Headlines, Text and Italics. Also explored in the project are proposals to extend the type family to other scripts, beginning with Arabic and Devanagari. The type family is intended for a news-house that publishes tabloids in major languages from India including English, Hindi and Urdu.
This was my graduation project for the MA in Type and Media and Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in Den Haag, Netherlands. Read more about the process by clicking on ‘TypeMedia2018’.
Qutub is still in progress, and unreleased. If you would like to use it, please get in touch. You can email me by clicking here.
One of the major tasks after creating a new typeface, is trying market it. These “type specimens” give an idea to the potential licensee or user about what the type is designed for or some of its best use cases.
